Chances are, if you’re a fan of medical dramas from the early 2000s, you were glued to shows like House, Grey’s Anatomy, and ER. Well, hold onto your stethoscopes, because ABC has just dropped some big news that’s sure to get Scrubs fans on their feet! The beloved comedic medical series that originally aired back in the 2000s is getting a reboot.

You heard that right—J.D., Turk, and Elliot might be back on your screens soon! Bill Lawrence, the mastermind behind the original Scrubs series, is taking the reins once again. Known for his work on *Ted Lasso* and *Shrinking*, Lawrence has inked a deal with Disney, 20th Television, and ABC to bring us a sequel to the iconic show.

While Lawrence won’t be in the showrunner/creator seat this time around, his involvement has been instrumental in getting this project off the ground. Talks are underway to reunite the original main cast, including Zach Braff (J.D.), Sarah Chalke (Elliot Reid), Donald Faison (Christopher Turk), and John C. McGinley (Perry Cox).

In an October interview last year, Lawrence shared his enthusiasm for reviving Scrubs, saying, “A significant part of the original creative team behind the camera, and most of the team in front of the camera, are really invested and excited.” He added, “People want to know what has happened to the characters they love in the medical world. This series also works because it depicts young people entering medicine with their idealistic ideas and convictions.”

For those needing a refresher, the original Scrubs series ran for nine seasons from 2001 to 2010 and was a launching pad for actor and director Zach Braff (*Garden State*). The show featured a slew of famous guest appearances, including Brendan Fraser, Michael J. Fox, and Ryan Reynolds.
