Discover the Revealed Future of Sky’s Popular Shows: House of the Dragon and Last of Us
Sky has finally shared the future of some fan-favorite US shows like House of the Dragon and The Last of Us, amidst rumors that they could be moving to a new streaming platform. Warner Bros Discovery had hinted at the possibility of launching their Max app in the UK, potentially taking these hit series away from Sky.
For years, Sky Atlantic has been the go-to place for Warner Bros Discovery’s HBO hits, including shows like The White Lotus, Game of Thrones, and Dune: Prophecy. The next big project in the works is a new Harry Potter series, adding to the lineup of exclusive content.
While the existing deal between Sky and Warner Bros Discovery was up in the air, a new agreement has been reached. This means that these popular shows will stay on Sky, although some changes are on the horizon.
Warner Bros Discovery is moving forward with launching the Max app in the UK and Ireland starting in April 2026. For existing Sky customers, the app will be included in their subscription at no extra cost. Additionally, an ad-supported version of Max will be accessible to Sky subscribers without any added fees.
Alongside familiar franchises, the Max app will feature a range of HBO and Max Originals. These changes will also extend to Sky’s sister service NOW, previously known as NOW TV.
In the words of Dana Strong, Group CEO of Sky, this partnership will provide customers with a broader range of content, seamlessly integrating the Max service into the streaming experience. This collaboration aims to offer an unparalleled entertainment lineup, combining content from partners, Sky Originals, and the best content apps in the UK and Ireland.
