Woodville Softball Wins Three Games in Tournament
The Woodville softball team had a great start to the season at the Brindlee Mountain Invitational, ending with a 3-1 record. Even though they fell short against Crossville in the semifinals, the Panthers dominated the competition with wins over Brindlee Mountain, Randolph, and Asbury.
During the tournament, Chelsea Collins from Woodville was on fire both in the circle and at the plate. She recorded an impressive 25 strikeouts and went 10 for 13. Kyeland Hilliard, Rebecca Tidwell, and Alee Snodgrass also contributed with multiple hits.
Moving on to North Jackson, they went 1-2 at the Madison Academy Invitational. The team secured a win against Arab with strong performances from Ashlin Cobb and Rachel Stewart. Cobb went 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Stewart was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Mackenzie Peacock showcased her skill on the mound, pitching the team to victory.
Unfortunately, the Chiefs faced a tough loss to Madison Academy, but they fought hard with standout performances from key players like Abbott and Peacock. The team showed resilience in their season opener against Fort Payne, almost making a comeback after a rough first inning. Stewart and Nevels stood out with solid hits, and Nevels pitched a commendable game.
Overall, both Woodville and North Jackson gave strong performances at their respective tournaments, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
