What to Expect in Slow Horses Season 5 on Apple TV+
There’s no shortage of spy series popping up on streaming services these days, which is both exciting and a tad overwhelming. While we have Netflix’s Black Doves for a festive binge, Peacock’s Day Of The Jackal is keeping us hooked with its reboot of a classic, and Netflix’s The Night Agent is waiting in the wings for the New Year. But one grizzled spy that we’ve all been missing is Gary Oldman’s Jackson Lamb on Apple TV+.
It feels like it’s been ages since we’ve checked in with Jackson and his crew of MI5 agents serving time in career purgatory from Mick Herron’s Slough House book series. The good news is that the fifth season is in the bag, with showrunner Will Smith confirming work on a sixth season already. So, let’s dive into what we can expect when Slow Horses gallops back onto our screens.
This season will draw inspiration from Herron’s London Rules novel, and showrunner Will Smith dropped some crucial info to Collider, revealing a hilarious tidbit about Jackson Lamb and his cake obsession in the upcoming season. Apparently, Oldman went a bit overboard with the cake-eating in one scene, leading to a sugar high on set. Smith teased the possibility of Lamb trying healthier snacks in the future, but we’ll have to wait and see how that unfolds when the season hits our screens.
As for the plot, if the show follows the London Rules storyline, we can expect to see River Cartwright (Jack Lowden) continuing his journey with the team at Slough House, dealing with personal demons and the ever-present threat of terror attacks. A string of random attacks is keeping MI5 on its toes, and with an ensemble cast that includes Christopher Chung, James Callis, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Rosalind Eleazar, the stakes are high for Season 5.
Unfortunately, an official release date for the new season hasn’t been announced yet, but if past seasons are any indication, we can likely expect Slow Horses back on our screens before September 2025. Late summer seems like a reasonable bet for the return of Jackson Lamb and his misfit crew.
While we eagerly await the new season, keep an eye out for the trailer and stay tuned for more updates on what to expect from the return of Slow Horses on Apple TV+.
