Michelle Yeoh is gearing up for an action-packed adventure in the first trailer for the upcoming Paramount+ movie, “Star Trek: Section 31”. This new film follows Emperor Philippa Georgiou, played by Yeoh, as she leads a team of spies to protect the United Federation of Planets.

Originally announced last April, “Star Trek: Section 31” is set to premiere on Friday, January 24, exclusively on Paramount+. Yeoh will reprise her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou, a character she first portrayed in “Star Trek: Discovery” season 1. The story picks up as Georgiou joins a secret division of Starfleet, navigating the challenges of her past while fulfilling her mission to safeguard the Federation.

The movie promises to deliver an entertaining experience while staying true to the “Star Trek” universe. Screenwriter Craig Sweeny aimed to create a storyline with a low barrier of entry, ensuring it appeals to both longtime fans and newcomers. Sweeny explained that “Star Trek: Section 31” will focus on characters at the edges of the universe, offering a fresh perspective on the classic franchise.

In addition to Michelle Yeoh, the film features a talented ensemble cast including Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rohl, Sam Richardson, Sven Ruygrok, Robert Kazinsky, Humberly Gonzalez, James Hiroyuki Liao, and Miku Martineau.

Directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi and produced by industry heavyweights like Alex Kurtzman, “Star Trek: Section 31” is one of the latest additions to the expanding “Star Trek” universe on Paramount+. With a range of series and original content available for streaming, fans of the iconic franchise have plenty to look forward to.
