In some positive news, Lizzo has had a win in a lawsuit filed against her by her former wardrobe stylist, Asha Daniels. Daniels accused the singer of creating a hostile work environment during her 2023 European tour. The lawsuit against Lizzo, her wardrobe manager Amanda Nomura, and tour manager Carlina Gugliotta was filed in September 2023.

According to Rolling Stone, in the lawsuit, Daniels put most of the blame on Nomura, claiming that she made racist and fatphobic comments and made fun of Lizzo and her background dancers with stereotypes of Black women. Daniels also accused Nomura of treating her poorly while on the job. However, a federal judge in Los Angeles ruled that Daniels didn’t have the legal right to sue Lizzo directly, stating that Lizzo’s touring and payroll companies were Daniels’ employers, not Lizzo herself.

In an interview with ABC News back in September 2023, Daniels shared, “I’m coming in to work with someone who has physically assaulted me, with someone who’s threatened me, someone who is not allowing me to go eat when I need to eat.”

This dismissal of the lawsuit is an important development in Lizzo’s legal battle. It underscores the complexities of employment law and who can be held accountable in workplace-related disputes. Even though Lizzo may not be directly facing these claims, the situation shows how important it is for workplace environments to be respectful and supportive for all employees involved.
