Bluey Nominated for Best Animated Series at Critics Choice Awards
Bluey, the beloved children’s show, has been nominated for Best Animated Series at the Critics Choice Awards. This is a big deal because not many kids’ shows made the cut this year, and most of the ones that did come from Disney+. Bluey, along with X-Men ’97 and Agatha All Along, are among the few titles aimed at younger audiences to be recognized by the Critics Choice Association.
Bluey, produced by Ludo Studio, has been nominated for Best Animated Series for the past three years, but has yet to take home the prize. This year, it’s up against some tough competition, including The Simpsons, Invincible, Bob’s Burgers, and Batman: Caped Crusader.
Agatha All Along, a superhero series from Marvel Television that appeals to tweens and teens, helped Patti LuPone secure a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. The winners will be announced on January 12 during a live televised event on E!, which will also be available for streaming on Peacock the next day.
It’s interesting to note that Bluey is the only purely kids’ show to be nominated this year, and Disney+ seems to be the go-to platform for kids and family programming. While there are a few other nominated shows that can also appeal to younger audiences, such as ABC’s Abbott Elementary and CBS’s Young Sheldon, Bluey stands out for its preschool audience.
