Local Students Perform in Christmas at Belmont: Live from Nashville on Amazon Streaming
urrently attending Belmont University have an exciting opportunity to showcase their talent in the annual concert tradition, “Christmas at Belmont: Live from Nashville.” This year, over 600 student musicians and vocalists will take the stage to spread some holiday cheer.
For the first time ever, this festive event will be available for streaming on Prime Video and the Amazon Music channel on Twitch starting Wednesday at 8 p.m. So, if you can’t make it to the live performance at the University’s Fisher Center for the Performing Arts, you can still enjoy the show from the comfort of your own home.
Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Jeffery Ames, highlights the diversity of performances in this year’s show. From choral orchestral pieces to pop ensembles, country, bluegrass, and more, there’s something for everyone. The 90-minute performance will feature an array of student choirs and ensembles, such as the Belmont Chorale, Symphony Orchestra, Southbound (country), and Voxology (Gospel, R&B), among others.
In addition to the talented student performers, this year’s event will feature special guest appearances by Belmont alumni Ashley Cooke, Cody Fry, and Dwan Hill. Ashley Cooke, a rising country music star and Belmont graduate, recently topped the charts with her hit song “your place.” Cody Fry, known for his orchestral rendition of “Eleanor Rigby,” has earned acclaim, including a Grammy nomination. Dwan Hill, a Grammy and Dove award winner, brings his musical expertise from The Choir Room, a nonprofit organization he founded.
It’s not just a showcase of talent; it’s a celebration of community and creativity. The students will have the chance to share the stage with these esteemed alumni, interact with them backstage, and learn from their experiences. So, mark your calendars, grab some hot cocoa, and join us for a magical evening of music and holiday spirit with “Christmas at Belmont: Live from Nashville.”
