Football Squad Update: December 5, 2024

Football Australia just confirmed that CommBank Matildas’ midfielder Chloe Logarzo won’t be able to play in the final international match of 2024 against Chinese Taipei in Geelong. Logarzo was diagnosed with a concussion after a collision during Wednesday night’s game against Chinese Taipei at Melbourne’s AAMI Park. Even though she recovered from her symptoms, Logarzo has been withdrawn from the squad to follow the Concussion Graduated Return to Play Protocols.

Stepping in as Logarzo’s replacement is Melbourne City FC midfielder Laura Hughes, who will be making her first appearance for the senior national team. Hughes, a graduate of the Australian U-23 Women’s National Team, is a key player for City’s 2023/24 Ninja A-League Premiership-winning team and the current leaders of the 2024/25 season.

If you’re interested in catching the action, tickets are still available for the game at GMHBA Stadium through Ticketmaster. The match will be broadcast live and free on 10 and 10 Bold, and you can also watch it on 10 Play and Paramount+ thanks to Football Australia’s broadcast partner, Paramount Australia.
