Yellowstone Creator’s Landman Sets New Ratings Record
Landman premiered on Paramount+ to record-breaking ratings, Paramount announced in a recent press release. During its first week, the show attracted a whopping 14.6 million viewers, making it the most-watched global premiere week for a Paramount+ original series.
Since its debut, Landman’s viewership numbers have continued to increase. In the U.S., the show’s audience grew by an impressive 60 percent from Week 1 to Week 2. Starring Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, the series delves into the intense world of West Texas oil fields, where Norris navigates the challenges of obtaining mineral rights and overseeing pumping projects for a major oil company. Alongside Thornton, the ensemble cast includes Ali Larter, Jon Hamm, Demi Moore, and more.
Created by Taylor Sheridan, the co-creator of Yellowstone, Landman is based on a podcast called Boomtown by Christian Wallace, who also serves as an executive producer on the show. As of now, Landman is four episodes into its first season, with the fifth episode scheduled to air on Sunday.
While it remains uncertain whether Landman will extend beyond its initial season, Billy Bob Thornton has expressed his commitment to the series in interviews. With the rise of streaming platforms, actors and creators are finding more opportunities to develop characters over extended periods, making projects like Landman appealing for all involved. New episodes of Landman are released on Paramount+ every Sunday.
