T-Mobile memo reveals upcoming changes to popular freebie
T-Mobile has made some changes to its freebies, and customers need to take note. Back in 2017, T-Mobile started offering its customers Netflix On Us, which was ad-free at the time. But as Netflix updated its pricing plans, T-Mobile had to shift gears. Earlier this year, T-Mobile announced that customers on the Netflix On Us plan would now receive Netflix Standard with Ads.
To soften the blow for long-time customers who were used to ad-free Netflix, T-Mobile threw in a free Hulu On Us subscription with ads when they redeemed a special code. Customers on the Go5G Next plan also got Hulu On Us with ads as a free perk.
Looking ahead to 2025, T-Mobile will continue offering Netflix Standard with Ads for customers on eligible plans. While customers can upgrade to ad-free Netflix by paying the difference, the same option won’t be available for Hulu. In other words, T-Mobile won’t let customers pay to upgrade their Hulu service to ad-free.
To add to the mix, customers who added Disney+ to their free Hulu subscription will now have to choose between keeping Disney+ or their free Hulu with ads. This might be a bummer for some, but it’s likely a business decision by Hulu to maximize ad revenue.
So, if you’re a T-Mobile customer eligible for free Hulu, get ready for Hulu with ads and no additional add-ons or nothing at all. It’s a bit of a change, but T-Mobile is adapting to keep offering perks to its loyal subscribers.
