Republican Marian Price Suing Disney+ for Say Nothing Murder Scene
Veteran republican Marian Price is taking legal action against Disney+ for depicting her as responsible for killing Jean McConville in the new show Say Nothing. The drama portrays the tragic murder and secret burial of Mrs. McConville by the IRA in 1972.
Jean McConville, one of the Disappeared, was abducted, killed, and secretly buried by republican paramilitaries during the Troubles. Her remains were discovered in 2003 at Shelling Hill Beach in Co Louth by the Independent Commission for the Location of Victims’ Remains (ICLVR). Shockingly, no one has ever been prosecuted for her death, leaving behind 10 orphaned children.
Say Nothing is a historical drama series released by Disney on Disney+ in 2024, produced by FX Productions. The series is based on the 2018 book of the same name by Patrick Radden Keefe.
Marian Price, also known as Marian McGlinchey, has initiated legal proceedings against Disney, as reported by the Irish News. Her solicitor, Peter Corrigan of Phoenix Law, stated that the depiction of Mrs. Price as responsible for Mrs. McConville’s murder is a baseless and harmful allegation. He emphasized that these claims are not supported by any evidence and are damaging to his client’s reputation.
Disney+ has been reached out to for comment regarding these legal actions. It remains to be seen how this situation will unfold, but Mrs. Price’s decision to take legal action against the entertainment giant showcases her commitment to seeking accountability and justice for the portrayal of these events.
