Marian Price sues Disney+ over Say Nothing murder scene
Veteran republican Marian Price is taking legal action against Disney+ for portraying her as responsible for the murder of Jean McConville in the show Say Nothing. Jean McConville, one of the Disappeared, was abducted, killed, and secretly buried by republican paramilitaries in 1972, leaving behind 10 orphaned children. Her remains were discovered in 2003.
Say Nothing, a historical drama series on Disney+, is based on a book by Patrick Radden Keefe. Marian Price, also known as Marian McGlinchey, is challenging the allegation in the series through legal proceedings. Her solicitor, Peter Corrigan, emphasized that the claim is baseless and harmful to Price’s reputation. Price seeks to hold Disney accountable for their portrayal.
The show’s depiction has sparked controversy and legal action, shedding light on the sensitive history of The Troubles in Northern Ireland. Disney+ has yet to comment on the situation, but the case highlights the importance of accurate and respectful storytelling in historical dramas.
