ESPN Integration on Disney+: Standalone Subscribers Get Access to Select Sports & Hulu Content
ESPN+ sports content is now available on Disney+ as of Wednesday, creating a one-stop-shop for bundle subscribers to enjoy a variety of programming through a new ESPN hub within the Disney+ app. This integration follows the successful addition of Hulu earlier this year, offering subscribers access to a range of live sports events and original content from ESPN+.
With this new update, subscribers can look forward to 5,000 live events in the first 90 days, including NFL, NBA, NHL, College Basketball, and Australian Open matches. Additionally, they can enjoy a library of on-demand replays, original series like “30 for 30,” and other sports content from MLB, WNBA, tennis, and golf.
Standalone Disney+ subscribers will also benefit from this integration by gaining access to select live sports events, studio shows, ESPN Films, and even a curated collection of Hulu TV series and movies. The improved visibility of ESPN and Hulu tiles within the app makes it easy for all subscribers to discover and upgrade to the full bundle experience.
Exciting offerings for Disney+ standalone subscribers include animated specials like “The Simpsons Funday Football” and “Dunk The Halls,” along with select ESPN documentaries and coverage of the Australian Open. From Hulu, subscribers can enjoy movies and series such as “Shōgun,” “Solar Opposites,” and “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.”
This ESPN+ integration sets the stage for expanded sports content on Disney+ in the U.S., with the launch of ESPN’s direct-to-consumer product anticipated in 2025. With a focus on delivering unparalleled live sports experiences, ESPN aims to bring fans together for unforgettable moments and shared stories that transcend generations.
Disney’s decision to consolidate its streaming services earlier this year marked a significant milestone, with Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ achieving profitability for the first time. This strategic move paves the way for a more streamlined and comprehensive entertainment experience for subscribers.
