Disney+ integration to broaden ESPN’s audience to casual sports fans
ESPN is joining the Disney+ family, and they’re pretty excited about it. If you’re a subscriber to ESPN+, Disney has unveiled a dedicated ESPN tile on Disney+ where you can catch all the sports action without having to switch apps. And in the future, when ESPN launches its new flagship service, ESPN fans on Disney+ will have full access to all the ESPN content right there on Disney+.
Disney is sweetening the deal by offering about 100 live games to Disney+ members, even if you don’t have an ESPN subscription. You can look forward to college football and basketball, NBA and WNBA games, NHL, MLB, tennis, golf, Little League World Series, and UFC matches, according to ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro.
Excitingly, Disney+ users will be able to watch next week’s special “Simpsons” telecast of the NFL’s “Monday Night Football” game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys. Plus, you can catch five NBA Christmas games too. It’s all about bringing sports to you wherever you are!
And if you’re not an ESPN customer, don’t worry – you’re not left out. Disney+ will also feature some of ESPN’s studio shows like “College Gameday” and “Pardon the Interruption,” along with certain sports-related films and documentaries. The integration of ESPN into Disney+ search makes it seamless to find and watch your favorite sports content.
ESPN is even creating two new studio shows exclusively for Disney+. First up is a daily “SportsCenter” show just for Disney+ users, broadcasting live at a specific time and available for on-demand viewing later. There’s also a women’s sports show in the works for a more casual sports fan audience.
With so much great sports content coming to Disney+, ESPN is making sure that everyone, from avid sports fans to casual viewers, has something to enjoy on the platform. And if you’re interested, ESPN+ offers around 30,000 live games annually for $11.99 a month, or you can get the Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ bundle for $16.99 a month. Sounds like a win-win for sports fans!
