Apple TV+ is getting ready to debut an exciting new docuseries called The Secret Lives of Animals, narrated by Hugh Bonneville and produced by BBC Studios NHU. The 10-part series is set to premiere on December 18 and promises never-before-seen footage of rare and extraordinary animal behaviors that showcase the brilliance of the natural world.

Over the course of three years and in 24 countries, The Secret Lives of Animals highlights 77 unique species, bringing viewers up close and personal with the remarkable intelligence and adaptability of these creatures. The docuseries uses cutting-edge technology to capture moments like a jumping spider courtship dance, a killifish in Trinidad breathing through its tail on land, and even a wood mouse marking its territory with signposts.

One of the most interesting relationships captured on film is between a frog and a tarantula, along with a land lizard that can breathe underwater, and a monkey engaging in a unique nose-poking ritual as a test of friendship. The series dives deep into specific animal behaviors that are crucial to their life cycles, from birth to leaving home, raising a family, finding food, and growing old.

The Secret Lives of Animals is produced by BBC Studios Natural History Unit, with Matt Brandon as showrunner and Roger Webb as executive producer. This is the third collaboration between the BBC Studios Natural History Unit and Apple TV+, following the success of Prehistoric Planet and The Year Earth Changed.

Prepare to be amazed and delighted by the wonder and intelligence of the animal kingdom when The Secret Lives of Animals premieres on Apple TV+ on December 18.
