Apple TV+ Announces ‘Lucky’ Series Starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Reese Witherspoon
Apple TV+ is set to release a new limited series called “Lucky,” starring Anya Taylor-Joy, who will also be an executive producer. The show, based on Marissa Stapley’s bestselling novel, has been adapted by Jonathan Tropper, the creator of “See” on Apple TV+. The production company behind the project is Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine.
In “Lucky,” Taylor-Joy takes on the role of a young woman who must confront her criminal past to break free from the life that haunts her. This marks Taylor-Joy’s first TV series after her successful role in “The Queen’s Gambit” in 2020, which garnered her numerous accolades and awards. Recently, she has been focusing on film projects like “The Menu” and “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.”
Tropper will be co-showrunning “Lucky” alongside Cassie Pappas, known for her work on Silo for Apple TV+. Production on the series is scheduled to begin in spring 2025. Reese Witherspoon has expressed her enthusiasm for the project, highlighting how “Lucky” continues Hello Sunshine’s commitment to female-centric narratives. She is eager to collaborate with Taylor-Joy and Tropper to bring the story to the screen.
The series will be produced by Apple Studios, with Tropper, Pappas, Witherspoon, and Taylor-Joy all serving as executive producers. Anya Taylor-Joy, also recognized for her role in Dune 2, remains represented by CAA, The Way Management, and other agencies.
“Lucky” joins the roster of successful collaborations between Apple TV+ and Hello Sunshine, including “The Morning Show” and “Surface.” Fans are excited to see this new thriller unfold on the screen.
