een’s Gambit) back for a second time with an exciting new project. She’s set to take the lead in a ‘limited series’ adaptation of Marissa Stapley’s bestseller, Lucky. This upcoming series comes after Taylor-Joy starred in the thriller, The Gorge, for Apple TV+ alongside Miles Teller and Sigourney Weaver.
Lucky, a production of Apple Studios and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine company, is developed by Jonathan Tropper (See) and co-showrun by Cassie Pappas (Silo, Griselda). The storyline, a darling of Reese Witherspoon’s book club in 2021, follows the journey of a young woman who grew up in the world of crime but left it behind. She’s forced to confront her criminal past one final time to break free from it.
Anya Taylor-Joy not only stars in the series but also takes on the role of an executive producer via her company LadyKiller. Tropper and Pappas share an executive producer credit through Tropper Ink, alongside with Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter of Hello Sunshine.
Expressing her excitement, Taylor-Joy said, “Hello Sunshine has been a champion of women’s voices, and I am thrilled to work with Jonathan, Cassie, and Apple TV+ to bring Lucky to life.” Witherspoon added, “Our community has deeply connected with female-centric stories, and we are thrilled to partner with Apple TV+ and the incredible Anya Taylor-Joy, as well as the talented creators behind this series, to bring Marissa Stapley’s captivating novel to audiences worldwide.”
