AIS Introduces New Streaming Package in Bangkok
Advanced Info Service (AIS) has rolled out its Play Ultimate package, aiming to bring together top streaming platforms under one roof for post-paid customers. According to Rungtip Jarusiripipat, head of AIS Play, the Play Ultimate package is priced at 999 baht per month and includes content from six leading platforms: Netflix, Max, Disney+ Hotstar, iQIYI, VIU, and WeTV.
In addition to these streaming services, the package also offers access to 22 premium TV channels like HBO, Cartoon Network, CNN, and Discovery, exclusively through AIS Play. The company’s goal is to become the premier Thai entertainment destination through collaborations with global streaming partners to provide a diverse array of platforms.
Thailand currently has 29 million households, with 10.6 million using fixed broadband internet, representing a penetration rate of 36%. Approximately 2.2 million households in Thailand are consuming over-the-top streaming app services, accounting for a 34% penetration rate.
In terms of content consumption preferences in Thailand, AIS reports that 45% of viewers enjoy Chinese movies and series, 16% prefer local content, 16% favor Korean movies and series, 11% are fans of Japanese anime and series, 8% stick to US content, and 3% opt for other options.
For AIS customers specifically, Rungtip mentioned that 74% of streaming viewers utilize one app per month, while 26% engage with two or more apps every month. AIS’s 5G wireless broadband network serves over 95% of the Thai population, with 46.3 million mobile phone service users, including 11 million 5G subscribers.
Recognizing the diverse content preferences of viewers in Thailand, AIS introduced the 5G Max Play Ultimate monthly package for new customers. This package includes entertainment, calls, and high-speed internet starting at 1,299 baht per month, catering to a wide range of demands and viewing habits across both Eastern and Western content.
