Recently, Critical Role, the group known for their Dungeons & Dragons role-playing series with voice actors like Matthew Mercer and Laura Bailey, has been hinting at a new project. The company is actively working on creating a video game, according to Travis Willingham, Critical Role’s CEO. Willingham shared in an interview with Rolling Stone that an official announcement might be on the horizon, though the details are still under wraps.

Willingham mentioned that this endeavor has been a long time coming, with the team engaging in necessary conversations to ensure a smart execution. He emphasized that this game project is separate from their current ventures on Beacon, Twitch, or YouTube, as well as their existing animated series on Prime Video. The Critical Role cast has been actively exploring collaborations and partnerships to navigate the interactive space effectively.

The journey of Critical Role began in 2015 as a video series on Geek & Sundry before becoming an independent entity in 2019. The show chronicles the adventures of the cast’s personal D&D game, with multiple spin-offs and specials produced over the years. Critical Role has also extended its reach into other games, including creating their own tabletop RPG named Daggerheart and developing an animated show with Prime Video.

As fans eagerly anticipate what Critical Role has in store for them, it’s clear that the team’s dedication and passion for storytelling continue to drive their projects forward. Stay tuned for updates, as the end of 2024 or the start of 2025 may bring exciting news just in time for Critical Role’s 10-year anniversary.
