Billie Eilish Named Apple Music’s Artist of the Year 2024
Apple has recognized Billie Eilish as Apple Music’s Artist of the Year for 2024, marking the first time an artist has received this honor twice since its inception in 2019. Billie’s achievements this year have been extraordinary, including winning her second Academy Award and two additional GRAMMYs for her song “What Was I Made For?” from Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. Her latest album, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, debuted at No. 1 on Apple Music’s charts in 138 countries and is considered her best work to date.
In addition to her musical success, Billie performed “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” at the Summer Games closing ceremony, collaborated with Charli XCX on the song “Guess,” and is currently headlining her sold-out HIT ME HARD AND SOFT tour through 2025. With seven GRAMMY nominations this year, including Record, Album, and Song of the Year, Billie has solidified her status as a generational talent. Her debut album, “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?,” was featured on Apple Music’s list of the 100 Best Albums, further showcasing her evolution as an artist.
Reflecting on this recognition, Billie expressed gratitude to Apple Music for their ongoing support throughout her career. Apple Music’s Rachel Newman praised Billie’s journey, noting that she has continued to blossom creatively on her own terms. As a two-time winner of Apple Music’s Artist of the Year, Billie now possesses two of the platform’s unique awards, which feature a custom silicon wafer suspended within a polished glass sheet and aluminum body, symbolizing the artists shaping today’s music landscape.
