Disabled Veterans Compete in World’s Toughest Race on Amazon Prime

A group of disabled veterans and civilians are gearing up for the ultimate challenge in the new Amazon Prime series, World’s Toughest Race: Eco-Challenge Fiji. In a race against 65 other teams, they will navigate over 400 miles of unforgiving terrain, including dense jungles, steep mountains, treacherous oceans, and dangerous swamps.

Team Unbroken, comprised of four members from the USA with combat disabilities, injuries, and personal battles, is determined to show the world that they may be wounded, but they are far from broken. Hosted by survival expert Bear Grylls, this 10-episode series captures the grit and unpredictability of this epic adventure, set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video.

This exciting show is all about resilience and determination. Athletes from diverse backgrounds worldwide will join forces to tackle unimaginable challenges, both on the course and within themselves. With 66 teams and 330 elite athletes from 30 countries, including the USA, Australia, UK, Japan, and more, the competition promises to be fierce.

From outrigger paddling to mountain biking, rappelling, white-water rafting, and epic hikes, the teams will face death-defying activities across the stunning landscapes of Fiji. Nearly 700 people from 21 countries, including 109 technical crew members, have banded together to capture the action-packed adventure, making this the biggest adventure race production to date.

Among the teams is Team Unbroken, featuring inspiring individuals with physical, sensory, and mental disabilities. From Gretchen Evans, a US Army veteran and No Barriers ambassador, to Keith Knoop, an Army veteran who has overcome severe injuries, each member has a unique story of perseverance and strength.

Dr. Anna Lord Bailey, a Clinical Pharmacy and Innovation Specialist living with Type One Diabetes, and Hal Riley, an avid athlete and outdoorsman paralyzed from the waist down, round out this exceptional team. Their resilience and passion for adventure will be on full display in World’s Toughest Race: Eco-Challenge Fiji, streaming on Amazon Prime Video from Friday, August 14, 2020.
