“Director of JonBenét Ramsey Netflix documentary revises perspective”
The director of Netflix’s new documentary, Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey, has opened up about changing his mind on a controversial theory about the case. The documentary delves into the tragic death of six-year-old JonBenét in 1996.
On December 26th, 1996, JonBenét’s parents discovered her missing from their home in Boulder, Colorado, along with a ransom note. Tragically, her body was found in the basement of their house.
There was a lot of speculation at the time that JonBenét’s family, particularly her parents, were involved in her death. Despite DNA evidence clearing them, this narrative still persists.
The director, John Berlinger, admitted to initially believing this theory, but as he delved deeper into the case, he realized it didn’t add up. His documentary features insights from JonBenét’s father, shedding new light on the case.
Detective Lou Smit, who worked on the case, believed an intruder could have been responsible for JonBenét’s death. This perspective helped change Berlinger’s viewpoint.
Berlinger hopes that with advancements in DNA technology, the case will one day be solved. His documentary aims to push for further DNA testing to finally bring closure to the Ramsey family.
