Baby Reindeer’s Nava Mau to star in dark comedy film “The Dregs”
Trans actress Nava Mau, known for her role as Teri in Netflix’s Baby Reindeer, is set to star in the upcoming comedic thriller The Dregs. The film, set in Tuscany, follows a group of friends whose trip to Italy takes a turn due to old conflicts resurfacing and a cursed bottle of wine. Joining Mau in this project are Benjamin Norris, Zach Tinker, Marta Pozzan, and Maria Grazia Cucinotta.
The Dregs will be directed by writer Connor Martin in his directorial debut and has been developed by Mike Stern. Stern expressed his excitement about Mau joining the cast, praising her performance in Baby Reindeer and the global success of the show.
Mau, who was recently named as one of BAFTA’s 2024 Breakthrough cohort and received an Emmy nomination for her role in Baby Reindeer, is breaking barriers as the first trans woman nominated in her category. She sees this recognition as a victory for trans actors, highlighting the importance of opportunities for growth and recognition in the industry.
