tvOS 18.2 Update Does Not Include New Apple TV+ Screen Savers
The upcoming tvOS 18.2 update for 2021 and newer Apple TV models is set to offer a rotation of Snoopy screen savers. Despite this exciting addition, it appears that the anticipated “TV and Movies” category of screen savers has been put on hold or possibly even canceled. These screen savers were initially expected to showcase various Apple TV+ series and movies.
As pointed out by the Dutch blog iCulture, Apple made the decision to remove all mentions of the “TV and Movies” screen savers from its website in mid-November. This included a sneak peek of a new screen saver inspired by the Apple TV+ series “Foundation.” While U.S.-based viewers have already seen updated fine print on Apple’s website, the information is still being slowly rolled out internationally.
Previously, the fine print indicated that both the Snoopy and TV and Movies screen savers were due to arrive in late 2024. However, the updated fine print now only mentions the Snoopy screen saver. While Snoopy is technically Apple TV+ content, it seems like additional Apple TV+ screen savers won’t be available anytime soon.
Expect the release of tvOS 18.2 to the public in December, with the latest beta version already offering the rotating Snoopy screen saver. Other screen saver categories on Apple TV include Aerials, Memories, and the Portraits option with clocks that was introduced in tvOS 18.0.
