If you’re a fan of the Netflix series “Senna,” you may be curious about the amazing cars featured in this F1 legend’s mini-series. To bring the passion of Ayrton Senna’s story to life on screen, Netflix tapped Argentina’s Crespis to build 22 replica F1 cars for the show. These stunning replicas span Senna’s racing career, from his Formula Ford to the Toleman TG184 to the Williams FW16.
Custom-built for filming, each car boasts unique engines, suspension, and other features tailored to each scene. While the cars may look authentic, you can expect that they perform differently from real F1 cars. For a true-to-life experience, lapel and trackside microphones were carefully placed to capture the roar of these 1980s and 1990s F1 machines.
To prepare for their roles, actors underwent rigorous karting training to master the subtleties of a racing driver’s craft. Beyond adding authenticity to their performances, this practice helped them navigate the tight confines of the F1 cockpits.
Described as semi-fictional, “Senna” follows Ayrton Senna’s extraordinary journey from his early racing days through his triple F1 championships to his tragic death in 1994. Premiering on Netflix on Nov. 29, this captivating series is a must-watch for F1 enthusiasts and viewers eager to delve into the life of a true racing legend.
