Suspect arrested after man shot in the chest on Wednesday morning
A man suffered a gunshot wound to the chest on Wednesday morning in Mishawaka, Indiana. Local police responded to a call at an apartment unit on Hickory Rd. around 7:07 a.m. The victim, who contacted the authorities, reported being shot and mentioned that the shooter was still present at the scene. Police found the man with the gunshot wound to his chest and he was taken to the hospital for treatment. Thankfully, he was last reported to be in stable condition, as confirmed by law enforcement.
Officers arrested a man named Joshua Peacock inside the apartment. He was apprehended and taken to the Mishawaka Police Department for questioning. It has been determined that the shooting incident was contained within the apartment, according to police. Peacock is expected to be moved to The St. Joseph County Jail on a preliminary charge of Aggravated Battery. The final decision on charges against him will be made by the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.
The Major Crimes Unit of the Mishawaka Police Department is actively investigating the case. No additional information is available at this time.
