Netflix Show Cancelled After One Season: Fans Angry
Fans of the hit graphic novel series and 2010 movie adaptation, Scott Pilgrim, were disappointed to learn that the animated version of the story, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, has been cancelled after just one season. Despite gaining a dedicated fanbase and an impressive 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the show will not be returning for future seasons.
The show featured stars from the movie, including Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who returned to voice Scott and Ramona Flowers. Other familiar faces like Kieran Culkin, Aubrey Plaza, Brie Larson, Chris Evans, and Anna Kendrick also lent their voices to the characters. Despite the star-studded cast, the decision was made to end the show after one season.
Creator Bryan Lee O’Malley confirmed that the plan was always for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off to be a one-season project. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work with the cast and crew, likening the experience to conducting a symphony orchestra every day. While fans expressed their disappointment on social media, O’Malley emphasized that the decision not to continue the show was made due to the intention of having only one season.
Although hopes for a potential second season were dashed, fans continue to show appreciation for the show and the effort put into bringing the beloved characters to life in animated form. Despite the cancellation, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, the original movie adaptation, is still available on Netflix for fans to enjoy.
