European Police Shut Down Largest Illegal Streaming Service
An illegal streaming service that catered to a whopping 22 million users worldwide and caused billions in copyright damages has been taken down thanks to an international police effort. According to EU law agencies, police from nine EU countries and the UK worked together to make it happen, conducting searches and seizing servers on Tuesday, as announced by Eurojust and Europol.
In a significant operation, authorities carried out more than 100 searches targeting 102 suspects. In Croatia, 11 people were arrested for their involvement in the illegal distribution of streaming content online, which included films and TV shows from various streaming services. This move is a big win in the ongoing battle against online piracy.
