Wolf Director Explains Decision to Cancel Brad Pitt and George Clooney Film
fter breaking records as the most-watched movie on Apple TV+, the action comedy “Wolfs” starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney had fans eager for a sequel. However, director Jon Watts recently made the tough decision to cancel plans for a follow-up film.
Expressing his disappointment, Watts cited a loss of trust in Apple as the reason behind his decision. Despite initial excitement from the streaming platform and even being commissioned to start writing a sequel, Watts was taken aback by Apple’s last-minute shift from a promised wide theatrical release to a streaming-only debut.
In a statement to Deadline, Watts revealed that Apple’s decision, made without explanation or discussion, led him to lose confidence in them as a creative partner. Despite his willingness to work with the talented cast again, including Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, Poorna Jagannathan, and Zlatko Buric, the trust had been eroded, and he felt it was best to cancel the sequel.
While Apple has remained silent on the director’s allegations, inside sources have indicated that the company views the film positively and is open to the possibility of a sequel in the future.
For now, fans of “Wolfs” will have to cherish the original film and await any further developments in the future.
