WandaVision Showrunner Confirms Disney+ Series Episode Was Scrapped
WandaVision, the hit Disney+ series, originally had plans for 10 episodes, but showrunner Jac Schaeffer recently revealed that two episodes were combined, making it a total of nine episodes. In an interview with Backstory Magazine, Schaeffer set the record straight and clarified that although an episode was dropped, the content from that episode was still incorporated into the series.
According to Schaeffer, logistical, budget, and creative reasons led to the decision to combine two episodes, ensuring that the story flowed smoothly. This change was part of the ongoing evolution of the series, as discussed by episode director Matt Shakman in a previous interview. He mentioned that the story was constantly changing, with experimentation and adjustments taking place, ultimately resulting in the decision to collapse a couple of episodes.
Despite the episode count change, it seems that the full story was effectively conveyed to viewers. However, there were some elements that were altered during production. For example, Schaeffer shared that a post-credit scene featuring Doctor Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, was initially planned but had to be scrapped due to pandemic restrictions. The scene would have shown Wanda refusing to be teleported by Strange, insisting that he visit her in person instead.
In addition to these behind-the-scenes details, WandaVision fans can dive deeper into the series through bonus content, including deleted scenes. One such scene explains the late introduction of Ralph Boehner, portrayed by Evan Peters, as he breaks off his ankle monitor and evades the authorities.
For those eager to revisit WandaVision or catch up on the latest Marvel content, the series is currently streaming on Disney+, alongside the recent release of Agatha All Along. Both series are expected to tie into future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, keeping fans engaged and excited for what’s to come. So, get ready for more Marvel magic and stay tuned for the stand-alone Vision series scheduled for 2026.
