Spider-Man director cancels sequel to Brad Pitt and George Clooney movie
Director Jon Watts recently made the decision to cancel the sequel to his Apple TV Plus movie, Wolfs, which featured A-list actors Brad Pitt and George Clooney. Watts expressed his loss of trust in Apple as a creative partner, citing the sudden shift from a wide theatrical release to a streaming debut without prior explanation. This surprising move by Apple led Watts to return the funds for the sequel, as he no longer felt comfortable collaborating with them on the project.
In Wolfs, Clooney and Pitt play two fixers who find themselves working together despite their usual solo operations. The film garnered significant attention and became Apple TV’s most-viewed movie to date. However, due to creative differences and a lack of transparency in the partnership, Watts decided to part ways with the project.
Moving forward, Jon Watts is involved in an upcoming Star Wars series called “Skeleton Crew,” which he co-created with Christopher Ford. This series is set to premiere on Disney Plus on December 3 in the US and December 4 in the UK. Watts emphasized his positive working experience with Pitt, Clooney, and the rest of the team on Wolfs, indicating his openness to future collaborations.
