Peacock Books and Bistro: A New Destination for Fudge, Art, Fried Chicken and Books in the Med City
If you’re looking for a unique spot in Rochester, Minnesota that combines fried chicken, fudge, books, and art, look no further than Peacock Books and Bistro. This charming establishment opened its doors just eight weeks ago in the old Green and Fresh location at Peace Plaza, and it’s been causing quite a stir in the Med City ever since.
The mastermind behind Peacock Books and Bistro is Lisa Loucks-Christenson, a talented wildlife photographer who co-owns this delightful gem with her husband. As you step inside, you’ll be greeted by Lisa’s stunning photography and art adorning the walls, along with shelves filled with her captivating books.
But Peacock Books and Bistro is more than just a feast for the eyes—it’s a feast for the stomach too. They serve up mouthwatering fried chicken and delectable fudge that will satisfy any craving. And if you feel like you recognize the name, it might be because Peacock Books originally resided in the Kahler Hotel.
Lisa Loucks-Christenson shared, “I never realized how many people weren’t going to my store. Local people usually didn’t find me or didn’t go there, probably because it was in a hotel, and maybe they thought you just don’t go into a hotel for books, art, and food.” Despite the move to a new location, Lisa wanted to maintain the brand and name she had worked so hard to establish.
Whether you’re a local looking for a new hangout spot or just passing through Rochester, Peacock Books and Bistro offers a blend of art, literature, and delicious eats that’s sure to leave a lasting impression. It’s a must-visit destination for anyone who appreciates a little bit of everything in one cozy and welcoming setting.
