Jon Watts Cancels ‘Wolfs’ Sequel Due to Lack of Trust in Apple as Creative Partner
Jon Watts, the talented director behind the Spider-Man movies, recently shared some unfortunate news about the sequel to the film “Wolfs” on Apple TV+. Despite the first film becoming the most-viewed feature ever on the platform, Watts and the stars, including George Clooney and Brad Pitt, have decided not to move forward with the planned sequel.
Watts cited his lack of trust in Apple as a creative partner as the reason for canceling the sequel. He was disappointed by Apple’s sudden decision to switch from a theatrical release to a streaming release without consulting him. As a result, he returned the money he was paid for the sequel. In his own words, “The truth is that Apple didn’t cancel the Wolfs sequel, I did, because I no longer trusted them as a creative partner.”
While Apple sources consider the movie a success and are open to the possibility of a sequel, it seems that Watts and the team have chosen to part ways with the tech giant for now. It’s always tough to see creative partnerships hit a rough patch, but we can only hope that both parties will find success in their future endeavors.
