David Lowery Animated Christmas Special Clip – An Almost Christmas Story
Disney+ has unveiled an adorable sneak peek from their upcoming Christmas special, “An Almost Christmas Story,” directed by David Lowery and produced by Alfonso Cuarón. This heartwarming special is the final installment in Cuarón’s holiday shorts series for Disney+. His previous shorts, “Le Pupille” and “The Shepherd,” were both recognized for their excellence, with “Le Pupille” even snagging an Oscar nomination in 2022.
“An Almost Christmas Story” draws inspiration from the real-life story of a small owl rescued from the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in 2020. The narrative follows Moon, a curious young owl who finds himself stuck in the Christmas tree bound for Rockefeller Plaza. In an effort to escape the city’s hustle and bustle, Moon befriends Luna, a lost little girl. Together, they embark on an enchanting adventure, discovering the true magic of the holiday season and forging an unexpected bond during their journey back home.
The released clip, titled “Moon at Rockefeller,” showcases Moon in the Christmas tree adorned with decorations and provides a glimpse of his accidental fall from the tree. The voice cast features talented performers like Cary Christopher as Moon, newcomer Estella Madrigal as Luna, and renowned names like Jim Gaffigan, Mamoudou Athie, Alex Ross Perry, and Natasha Lyonne contributing their voices to the characters.
Produced by Disney Branded Television and Cuarón’s Esperanto Filmoj, in partnership with Titmouse and Maere Studios, the special boasts animation services by 88 Pictures. Jack Thorne crafted the story and penned the screenplay for this delightful holiday offering, now available for streaming on Disney+.
