Beetlejuice Streaming Release Date Set: Max Platform

Get ready to press play on “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” because it’s finally arriving on streaming! Tim Burton’s legacy sequel will be making its debut on Max on December 6th, followed by its HBO linear debut on December 7th at 6:10 p.m. ET.

This sequel takes us thirty-six years after the original 1988 “Beetlejuice”, exploring the next chapter of the Deetz family. After a tragic loss, the Deetz family returns to Winter River for a funeral. Lydia Deetz, played by Winona Ryder, reluctantly heads back home with her estranged teenage daughter, Astrid, portrayed by Jenna Ortega. When Astrid stumbles upon a model of the town in the attic and inadvertently gets pulled into the Afterlife, Lydia must face her fears and seek help from the ghoulish demon, Betelgeuse, played by Michael Keaton, who once tried to marry her.

Apart from Keaton and Ryder, Catherine O’Hara returns to reprise her role as Delia Deetz, Lydia’s mother. The new cast includes Justin Theroux as Rory, Monica Bellucci as Delores LaFerve, Arthur Conti as Jeremy Frazier, and Willem Dafoe as Wolf Jackson.

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” was directed by Tim Burton from a screenplay by Wednesday co-creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, with Seth Grahame-Smith contributing to the story.

Upon its release, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” received positive reviews, with a box office total of over $451 million worldwide, making it one of the top 10 most popular movies of 2024. Alex Welch of Digital Trends gave it a three-star review, calling it a fun and stylish sequel that marks a much-needed return to form for the director.
