2024 TV Air Date for ‘A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving’
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving has been a beloved part of many Thanksgiving traditions since it first aired in 1973. However, this year, the classic special won’t be airing on any network. Apple TV+ holds the rights to the entire Peanuts TV library, including A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, and this year, the special can only be streamed online.
If you’re not an Apple TV+ subscriber, unfortunately, you won’t be able to watch the special on TV. However, you can sign up for a free trial subscription to Apple TV+ for seven days, after which it will cost $9.99 per month. Non-subscribers will still have a chance to catch A Charlie Brown Christmas for free on Dec. 14 and 15 on the Apple TV+ app.
Originally airing on Nov. 20, 1973, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving follows the Peanuts gang as they learn about friendship and cooperation during the holiday season. The special was the third primetime Peanuts holiday special, following A Charlie Brown Christmas in 1965 and It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown in 1966. Although the show has aired on various networks over the years, it was last shown on a major network in 2019 on ABC.
In 2020, Apple TV+ acquired the rights to all Peanuts films, leading to A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving being exclusively available on the streaming service starting in 2022. Even though the special won’t be on TV this year, you can still stream it online if you have an Apple TV+ subscription.
Lastly, Charlie Brown made his debut in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as a balloon in 2002 and last appeared in the parade in 2018. It’s a sweet reminder of the enduring legacy of these classic characters.
