Triple H Addresses Raw Streaming Issues on Netflix
WWE’s CCO, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, is tackling concerns about streaming issues following Netflix’s Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson event. The fight drew millions of viewers last weekend, resulting in reports of lagging and skipping, making it a frustrating watch for many. With WWE getting ready to bring Monday Night Raw to Netflix in January, fans are curious about the streaming quality.
According to reports, WWE officials were aware of the issues and assured fans that they wouldn’t be a problem. However, Triple H took it a step further. When asked about his view on the situation, he mentioned that he wouldn’t mind a bit of buffering under one condition.
Triple H explained, “I was on a plane watching the fight, so buffering was expected on my end. We were flying back from TV, and the signal was spotty. I thought, ‘We’re 40,000 feet in the air, it should be.’ It’s understandable that with 60 million households tuning in at once on a streaming service, there might be some buffering on the first night. I’d be okay with that.”
In a significant deal earlier this year, WWE and Netflix signed a $5 billion agreement for 10 years. This deal includes distribution rights to Monday Night Raw, original content, and Premium Live Events internationally. With WWE’s agreement with Peacock extending until 2026, it will be some time before domestic fans can watch. Internally, WWE is gearing up for the show as a PLE.
On January 6th, WWE will debut Monday Night Raw live on Netflix from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. Alongside special guests, the event will feature stars like John Cena, Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and Bianca Belair.
