Streamflation: Sling TV Increases Prices by $5.99 Across the Board
Streaming service Sling TV has announced that they will be increasing subscription prices by $5.99 per month on all their basic packages. This change will affect subscribers of Sling Orange, Sling Blue, and Sling Orange + Blue, with the new prices taking effect on December 20th, 2024.
While Sling TV has mentioned that the price hike is due to “rising costs,” they have assured customers that they are working to keep costs as low as possible. Sling Blue, which includes popular channels like Fox, Bravo, NBC, and TLC, will now cost $45.99 per month. Similarly, Sling Orange, which features Disney and ESPN networks, will also see a jump to $45.99 per month. For those looking for the complete package with access to all networks, the combo subscription will now cost $61 a month.
This upcoming price increase is the first time Sling TV has raised its prices since March 2023, when they increased prices by $5 in select markets. In a statement, Sling mentioned that these price hikes are not unique to them, as other streaming providers have also implemented increases throughout 2024. Despite this, Sling prides itself on remaining one of the most affordable options, with prices more than $20 lower per month compared to other providers.
This announcement follows recent price hikes from other streaming services like Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and Max (previously HBO Max). These price adjustments have become common in the industry, with providers adjusting their plans to meet changing market demands.
It’s important for current Sling TV subscribers to take note of these changes and plan ahead if needed before the December 20th deadline. Stay tuned for more updates on streaming service pricing and options as the industry continues to evolve.
