Jeremy Clarkson Discusses Gerald’s Cancer Diagnosis in a Heartfelt Video
Jeremy Clarkson recently shared an emotional video discussing his co-star Gerald Cooper’s cancer diagnosis. Fans of Prime Video’s Clarkson’s Farm were saddened earlier this year when they learned that Gerald, a beloved farmhand, had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Clarkson revealed the news during the show’s third series, where he and fellow farmer Kaleb Cooper discussed the diagnosis while taking on Gerald’s farm duties repairing drystone walls.
In the video, Clarkson expressed his concern for Gerald, saying, “It’s scaring him to death. I know he doesn’t understand and he’s bewildered.” However, he later provided an update in August, sharing that Gerald is responding well to treatment and doing much better.
Clarkson has been using his platform to raise awareness for Prostate Cancer UK, a charity that aims to educate men about the disease that affects one in eight throughout their lives. In the video, Clarkson humorously mentioned that Gerald wanted to speak for himself but instead had Clarkson deliver the message due to Gerald’s thick West Country accent.
Reflecting on Gerald’s cancer journey, Clarkson highlighted the incredible amount of support that Gerald received during his treatment. He also emphasized how crucial Gerald is to the daily operations at Diddly Squat, saying, “This place wouldn’t be the same without him.”
Despite the challenges, Clarkson shared a lighthearted moment when Gerald received the all-clear earlier this year, jokingly mentioning that they wanted to celebrate at the pub, but Gerald couldn’t drink. Jeremy Clarkson’s openness and support for Gerald have touched the hearts of fans and raised awareness about prostate cancer.
