Irish Actress Ella Lily Hyland Stars in Netflix Series Black Doves
In Netflix’s upcoming spy thriller series Black Doves, rising Irish actress Ella Lily Hyland will be joining an ensemble cast that includes Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw, and Sarah Lancashire. The show, set to launch on Thursday, December 5th, follows a twelve-part series from writer-creator-executive-producer Joe Barton.
In this high-octane drama, Hyland portrays the character Williams, a freelance assassin who brings a unique blend of darkness and playfulness to the screen. According to Hyland, Williams is a killer for hire, with a quirky, fun, and curious personality. She’s meticulous about her work, having started at an early age, and struggles to relate to others in a typical way.
The series is set against the backdrop of London at Christmas and tells a gripping tale of friendship and sacrifice. Keira Knightley stars as Helen Webb, a spy who has been sharing her husband’s political secrets with the Black Doves, a shadowy organization she works for. When Helen’s lover is assassinated, a mysterious character named Reed, played by Sarah Lancashire, calls upon Helen’s old friend Sam (Ben Whishaw) to keep her safe.
Together, Helen and Sam embark on a journey to uncover the truth behind the assassination and a larger conspiracy that connects the London underworld to a global crisis. The stellar cast also includes Andrew Buchan, Omari Douglas, Kathryn Hunter, Sam Troughton, and many more talented actors.
Aside from her role in Black Doves, Ella Lily Hyland has made a name for herself in projects like the tennis drama Fifteen-Love, an upcoming Agatha Christie adaptation for the BBC, and a role in the play “Grania” at the Abbey Theatre.
