“That was our wink to the movie,” Fisher says. “We had to acknowledge it.”
The characters’ names
Many of the characters’ names in the TV show are the same as the movie. For example, Claire Forlani plays Claudia, who is based on Michelle Monaghan’s character in the movie. And even though Sean Patrick Thomas plays a completely new character in the show, his character is named Professor Chadwick, which pays tribute to his character in the movie, Ronald Clifford.
“We had fun with that,” Fisher says. “Figuring out where we could put hints and nods where no one felt disrespected or that we were just copying.”
What’s next
With the show ending season 1 on a cliffhanger, where will the show go next? The showrunners promise that just scratch the surface of what could come next in season 2.
“With one season under our belts, our characters have really been tested,” Goodman says. “And I don’t think the game is up. We just maybe peeked around the corner.”
