‘Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan’s Film "Vettaiyan" to Premiere on Prime Video Soon’

The highly anticipated action drama film "Vettaiyan," starring Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, is gearing up for its release on Amazon Prime Video. Fans can catch the movie in Tamil, along with dubbed versions in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, starting November 8.

The news of the film’s digital release was officially announced by Amazon Prime Video through an Instagram post, where they revealed the release date with the caption, "The date is LOCKED and LOADED for Vettaiyan’s arrival. #VettaiyanOnPrime, Nov 8."

Upon its theatrical release, "Vettaiyan" faced mixed results at the box office. The film managed to collect a total of Rs 145.75 crore within 20 days of its domestic run. Despite a strong performance, it opened with a 44% lower box office collection compared to Rajinikanth’s previous film, "Jailer," due to its perceived weak storyline and subsequent negative word-of-mouth. Globally, the movie garnered Rs 251.1 crore during its entire theatrical run.

Following the film’s underwhelming box office performance, producer Lyca Productions reportedly approached Rajinikanth to discuss compensatory measures. Reports suggest that the production house proposed collaborating on another project with the superstar while also requesting a reduction in his fees.

Directed by TJ Gnanavel of "Jai Bhim" fame, "Vettaiyan" revolves around the character SP Athiyan, a daring police officer known for his uncompromising approach to investigations and law enforcement. The film marks the on-screen reunion of Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan after their last collaboration in the 1991 film "Hum." Additionally, Gnanavel hinted at the potential for a prequel to "Vettaiyan," delving into Athiyan’s backstory to offer insights into his life choices and motivations.

Apart from Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, the star-studded cast of "Vettaiyan" includes Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan, Ritika Singh, and Abhirami in pivotal roles. The film initially hit theaters worldwide on October 10 in multiple languages, captivating audiences with its gripping narrative and stellar performances.
