Prime Video introduces Crunchyroll add-on subscription for Australian viewers
Amazon Prime Video has recently added Crunchyroll, a Sony-owned anime streaming service, to its lineup of add-on subscriptions in Australia. Prime members now have the option to choose between two Crunchyroll monthly memberships – Fan for $10.99 or Mega Fan for $13.99. These subscriptions provide access to the entire Crunchyroll library without ads, allowing viewers to watch new episodes shortly after their release in Japan. Additionally, Mega Fan subscribers will have the bonus feature of being able to download titles for offline viewing.
Crunchyroll is renowned for its extensive collection of anime, including popular titles like My Hero Academia, Wistoria: Wand and Sword, and Tower of God. With a staggering 24,000 hours, 46,000 episodes, and over 1,300 series and films, Crunchyroll boasts the world’s largest streaming catalog of anime. Some of the highlights for October on the platform include Dragon Ball DAIMA, BLUE LOCK Season 2, Shangri-La Frontier Season 2, and Re: ZERO – Starting Life in Another World Season 3.
According to Crunchyroll’s latest quarterly earnings report, the streaming service now has more than 15 million paid subscribers. This move to join Amazon Prime Video marks the 21st add-on subscription available to Australian customers. The collaboration between the two companies began a year ago with a global agreement that initially made the service accessible as an add-on to members in the US, UK, Canada, and Sweden.
Daniel Slepak, the head of marketplace for Prime Video in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, expressed pride in expanding the platform’s collection with Crunchyroll as an add-on subscription. He emphasized Prime Video’s commitment to offering customers a wide range of premium entertainment options in one convenient location. Terry Li, Crunchyroll’s emerging business EVP, highlighted how the partnership with Prime Video opens doors for anime fans worldwide to immerse themselves in captivating anime worlds. Li encouraged viewers to explore the diverse and thrilling series available on Crunchyroll, inviting them to embark on countless adventures within the realm of anime.
