Pankaj Tripathi’s Mirzapur Set to Return to Theaters: Amazon Prime Video Series Renewed
Mirzapur, a highly acclaimed web series in India, is set to make its transition to the big screen with the upcoming release of the Mirzapur movie in 2026. Amazon and MGM Studios, in collaboration with Excel Entertainment, announced their plans to bring the popular crime thriller franchise to theaters in a statement.
Manish Menghani, director of Content Licensing at Prime Video India, highlighted the immense popularity of Mirzapur among today’s audiences, describing it as a beloved franchise. The decision to expand the series into a theatrical release was fueled by the continuous acclaim received by Mirzapur.
The film, titled "Mirzapur: The Film," will be created by Puneet Krishna and directed by Gurmmeet Singh. It will feature the iconic characters of Mirzapur, including Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi), Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal), Munna Tripathi (Divyenndu), and Abhishek Banerjee in the role of the compounder, alongside other actors. Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar will serve as producers for the movie.
