Disney+ Elevates Scripted and Unscripted Leaders in EMEA
Disney+ has announced promotions for its scripted and unscripted executives in the EMEA region. Lee Mason has been appointed as the Executive Director of Scripted Originals for Disney+, while Sean Doyle will take on the same role for unscripted content. Both Mason and Doyle have been part of Diego Londono’s EMEA content team at Disney for over three years, with previous experience at Channel 4. They expressed their excitement about the new roles on LinkedIn.
Mason, who previously oversaw Disney+ EMEA’s scripted content, took on additional responsibilities following Johanna Devereaux’s move to Apple TV+. He is now in charge of scripted launches, development, and has successfully launched high-profile projects like Rivals. Dominic Treadwell-Collins, an executive at Rivals, commended Mason’s understanding of the project’s vision. Other notable dramas in Disney+ EMEA’s lineup include Extraordinary, Oussekine, Whiskey on the Rocks, and a French adaptation of Ghosts with TF1.
On the unscripted side, Sean Doyle leads entertainment and documentary content at Disney+. Under his guidance, the platform has commissioned popular shows like Save our Squad with David Beckham, Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story, and Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story.
Their superior, Liam Keelan, is set to depart as SVP of Original Content, EMEA in January 2025. Keelan played a pivotal role in establishing Disney’s Europe and Africa programming team and overseeing the production of 70 original projects. The recruitment process for his successor is currently underway, marking a significant transition for Disney+ in the European television landscape.
Diego Londono recently highlighted Disney EMEA’s adaptability in negotiations at MIPCOM, emphasizing the company’s willingness to be flexible in deals. This approach reflects Disney’s commitment to navigating the evolving dynamics of the entertainment industry and delivering compelling content to audiences in the EMEA region.
