Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan to Return for Season 2 of ‘Beef’

Netflix has officially renewed the anthology series "Beef" for a second season, with a new cast lineup featuring Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny. The upcoming season will consist of eight 30-minute episodes, down from the previous season’s 10 episodes.

Youn Yuh-jung, the Oscar-winning actress from "Minari," has also been announced to join the cast for the upcoming season. Specific roles for each actor have not been disclosed at this time.

The storyline for season two of "Beef" will revolve around a young couple who find themselves caught in the middle of a heated dispute between their employer and his wife. This conflict sets off a series of power plays and manipulations within the exclusive world of a country club owned by a Korean billionaire.

Creator Lee Sung Jin expressed his ongoing creative process, hinting at the underlying conflicts that will continue to drive the essence of "Beef." The series garnered significant acclaim at the 2023 Emmys, securing eight awards, including recognition for best limited/anthology series, lead performances by Ali Wong and Steven Yeun, and accolades for writing and directing by Jin.

Lee Sung Jin will return as the showrunner for the second season of "Beef," with executive production support from Steven Yeun, Ali Wong, and Jake Schreier. The series is produced by A24.

Oscar Isaac, who is set to star in the upcoming season, has also been attached to other projects such as the vampire thriller "Flesh of the Gods" alongside Kristen Stewart and the title role in Guillermo del Toro’s "Frankenstein." Carey Mulligan, fresh off her third Oscar nomination for "Maestro," recently appeared in Netflix’s "Spaceman" opposite Adam Sandler. Charles Melton, known for his role in "Riverdale," starred in Netflix’s "May December," while Cailee Spaeny has been featured in projects like "Civil War," "Alien: Romulus," and "Priscilla."
