Maggie Jewel Peacock, 90, Celebrates Milestone Birthday

Maggie Jewel Peacock, a beloved figure in her community, passed away on October 20, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. Born on May 20, 1934, in Bushtown, Mississippi, to Bennie and Beuna Lee, Jewel was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Throughout her life, Jewel was a source of unwavering support and affection for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Lavell Peacock, and her siblings Louise Cliburn, Bobbie Coats, Jean Prine, Earl Lee, and Floyd Lee. Jewel is survived by her sister, Madge Sanders, with whom she shared many cherished memories.

A devoted mother, Jewel raised three children: Sondra Howard (David) of Brookhaven, Karon Threet (Phil) of Arkansas, and Bobby Warren (Lisa) of Mendenhall. Her loving presence lives on through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were a source of joy and pride for her.

Jewel dedicated two decades of her life to serving her community at the tax collector’s office, where her warmth and dedication made a lasting impact on those around her. The funeral arrangements for Jewel include visitation at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall on October 22, 2024, with funeral services to follow on October 23, 2024. The burial will take place at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Mendenhall, Mississippi. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will pay tribute to Jewel, with special music performed in her honor.
