‘Netflix Series "East of Eden" Cast Grows with Martha Plimpton and Ciarán Hinds Joining’
The upcoming limited series adaptation of "East of Eden" on Netflix is finalizing its cast, according to sources. Joining the previously announced stars Florence Pugh, Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist, and Hoon Lee are Tracy Letts, Martha Plimpton, Ciarán Hinds, Joseph Zada, and Joe Anders.
In this series based on the John Steinbeck novel, Letts will portray Cyrus Trask, Plimpton will take on the role of Faye, Hinds will embody Samuel Hamilton, Zada will play Cal Trask, and Anders will portray Aron Trask. The show is set to delve into the multigenerational saga of the Trask family, with a particular focus on the complex character of Cathy Ames, played by Pugh.
Filming for the seven-episode series is currently underway in New Zealand. The production boasts a talented team, with Zoe Kazan serving as executive producer and co-showrunner. Kazan comes from a storied cinematic lineage, as her grandfather, Elia Kazan, directed the original film adaptation starring James Dean. Co-showrunner Jeb Stuart and Pugh will also serve as executive producers. The series will be helmed by director Garth Davis for the first four episodes, with Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre taking over for episodes five through seven. Additional executive producers include Antoine Douiahy and Zack Hayden. "East of Eden" is a collaboration between Fifth Season and Anonymous Content.
