Goosebumps Season 2: All R.L Stine tales to be showcased in Disney+ series

Disney+ has unveiled a thrilling trailer for the highly anticipated second season of Goosebumps, drawing inspiration from R.L. Stine’s popular horror book series. The debut of Goosebumps took place in October 2023, introducing a storyline where five teenagers inadvertently release a supernatural being in their town and must find a way to contain it. Along the way, they uncover dark secrets from their parents’ past. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the ten-episode series managed to secure a respectable 74% critics rating and a 69% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Following the successful release of the first season, Disney announced the return of the mystery drama with a fresh cast and storyline. Friends star David Schwimmer steps into the lead role as Anthony, a former botany professor and divorced father. The upcoming chapter, titled Goosebumps: The Vanishing, shifts its focus to twin siblings portrayed by Sam McCarthy and Jayden Bartels. The siblings spend their summer with their father and stumble upon a looming threat that sets off a series of events uncovering a profound mystery.

The official trailer for Goosebumps: The Vanishing, released on October 20, has already garnered 3.6 million views on YouTube. Fans have eagerly identified the books that have influenced this season, as reported by The Mirror. The series synopsis teases a storyline where the siblings become entangled in the mysterious disappearance of four teenagers in 1994.

In the new season, viewers can expect nods to various iconic Goosebumps books. David Schwimmer’s character warns his children to "stay out of the basement," a direct reference to the 1992 book Stay Out of the Basement. This cautionary tale follows a botanist father whose experiments in the basement spark curiosity and danger for his children. Additionally, the trailer features a monster reminiscent of the creature from the 1997 book The Blob That Ate Everyone, as well as echoes of the Monster Blood entity and The Haunted Car from other classic Goosebumps novels.

Excitement among fans is palpable, with many expressing their anticipation for the upcoming season. One fan remarked on the trailer, thanking the creators for catering to original Goosebumps fans, while another praised the inclusion of references to various iconic books in the series. As the countdown to the premiere continues, fans eagerly await the return of Goosebumps: The Vanishing on Disney+ on January 10, 2025.
